Painted en plein air-- I recall it was the most beautiful day ever, just about. I was actually at the park the previous day in the same spot, all prepared to paint this scene, or so I thought, but I didn't pack my palette in my kit, so I bailed and just enjoyed the afternoon. Luckily for me the weather held and I came back the next day, which was the day before Thanksgiving, and painted this. This was the first piece I was able to paint after my sweet boy Kiefer died, and I was still in shock, but I felt I had to do something, had to keep moving forward through the grief. It was a way to work through it, to stay productive, otherwise ..
As it turns out, it was the last good weather we had in 2022-- about a day or two later it got overcast and cool, and not long afterwards the weather turned really bad: the Winter of the Seven Atmospheric Storms then came rolling in, when Northern California was pounded by rain and lashing wind in storm after storm, virtually nonstop for weeks.
